Crew

To be an active and contributing community member, we must be present, out and about, and develop relationships with others. Our Community Participation crews are quite successful in establishing positive work routines, teaching tools and strategies that can be generalized into other settings, providing a framework for exploring goals, connections,  advocacy, and employment opportunities. We focus on building partnerships and relationships along the way!

Connection

Enjoy building relationships with peers and community members through crew activities. Together, we create belonging in our partnerships with peers and other community members.

Contribution

Each crew works in a volunteer setting, rooted in choice, preference, and skill building.

What are we looking for in “just right” community partners where we volunteer?

  • Authentic reciprocity (“real” contribution)

  • Layering of tasks and/or settings (to match different participants skills and preferences) with variety of roles

  • Diversity of community and “industry”

  • Warm leads for employment

Independence

Build independence and agency by helping your crew choose what fun or educational activity comes next all while focus on Flourishing goals. Skills include: socialization and effective communication; adaptive and executive function development that includes problem solving, organizing, and self-regulation; establish a network of support and potential employment opportunities that lead to competitive employment.

Supports

In-Home and Community Support is a direct service provided in home and community settings to assist participants in acquiring, maintaining and improving the skills necessary to live in the community, to live more independently, and to participate meaningfully in community life.
